Barcode Scanner
The Barcode Scanner component is used to identify products travelling on transporting equipment (typically conveyors). When a product travels through the barcode scanner, the product may be identified according to the specified read rate.
Create a Barcode Scanner
From the Toolbox, simply drag and drop a barcode scanner into the simulation.
Access a Barcode Scanner
From the Project Explorer > Equipments > Barcode Scanner.
Or directly in the simulation.
Barcode Scanner Properties
- Connections/Source - Name of the conveyor or transporting equipment where the barcode scanner reads from.
- Connections/Source Distance - The distance along the Source component where the readings occur.
- Length - Length of the Barcode Scanner.
- Width - Width of the Barcode Scanner.
- Height - Height of the Barcode Scanner.
- Scanning Time – Time taken to scan a product. (millisecond)
- Read Mode – Three read mode to choose from:
- Use Barcode Scanner Read Rate:
When in this mode, barcodes of all product transported across have the same chance(Good Read Rate) to be read. For each product, Sym3 generates a random number between 0 and 1. The scanner identifies the product if the random number is higher than the barcode read rate.
- Use Product Read Rate : In this mode, the percentage stored against the individual product is used to calculate the chance of a good barcode read.
- Use Combine Read Rate: In the Combine mode, the effective read rate is calculated by multiplying the Scanner read rate percentage with the product read rate percentage (for example, a 90% Scanner read rate with a 50% product read rate results in a 45% chance that the barcode is read).
- Good Read Rate - Percentage of successful barcode reads; all other reads are ‘no-reads’.
- Last Read Successful – Display the status of last reading. Either true or false
